Our Story

Founded in 1975 by Robert A. Aird, our company began with a simple goal: to deliver expert plaster and exterior finish work with honesty, skill, and integrity. What started as a small operation has grown into one of the region’s most respected building enclosure contractors, known for quality craftsmanship and long-term performance.

Over the decades, we’ve expanded our capabilities to include EIFS, stucco, plaster, and air and water barrier systems—supporting commercial, residential, and historic restoration projects across Maryland, Washington, DC, Virginia, and the Mid-Atlantic region. Robert A. Aird, founder and president of Robert A. Aird, Inc., has spent more than five decades shaping the exterior construction industry through his expertise in EIFS, stucco, plaster, air barrier systems, and façade restoration. Since establishing the company in 1975, Rob has built Aird, Inc. into a trusted building enclosure contractor serving the Mid-Atlantic region, known for craftsmanship, safety, and long-term performance.

Beyond the field, Rob has played a major role in advancing industry standards. He has trained contractors across the United States and Latin America, contributed to publications, and served over 10 years as Treasurer of the Air Barrier Association of America (ABAA). Today, he continues to serve as an ABAA Fellow and EXCOM member, helping shape best practices in building enclosure performance nationwide.

Aird, Inc. is a family-owned and operated company built on integrity, craftsmanship, and long-term relationships. Rob works alongside his wife, Judy Aird, Vice President and Contract Administrator, and their daughter, Sarah Nichols, Director of Operations & Estimating.
