Columbia Place
2018
In 2018, Robert A. Aird, Inc. installed a self-adhered sheet air barrier system at Columbia Place in Washington, DC, a 719,000-square-foot mixed-use development including dual-branded Marriott hotels and luxury residential units. The system utilized Henry Blueskin®, a high-performance membrane designed to control air leakage and moisture intrusion.
The air barrier was installed over exterior sheathing and detailed at transitions, penetrations, and rough openings to maintain full continuity of the building envelope. Proper sequencing and coordination with adjacent façade systems were critical to achieving a continuous and durable enclosure.
In addition to the air barrier scope, Aird performed associated stucco restoration work, coordinating both scopes to ensure compatibility and long-term façade performance.
This project demonstrates Aird’s experience installing sheet-applied air barrier systems on large-scale urban developments, where system continuity, coordination, and performance are essential to building envelope success.
