In 2007, Robert A. Aird, Inc. installed a fluid-applied air barrier system at the Hilton Hotel at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, MD. The system utilized Sto Gold Coat®, a high-performance air and moisture barrier designed to create a continuous, seamless enclosure.

The scope included application of the air barrier over exterior sheathing, along with detailed treatment at penetrations, rough openings, and system transitions to ensure full continuity of the building envelope. Proper detailing at these critical areas is essential to long-term performance and code compliance.

Through careful coordination and installation, the system helps control air leakage, manage moisture intrusion, and improve overall thermal efficiency. This project demonstrates Aird’s experience delivering air barrier systems on large-scale hospitality construction, where performance and sequencing are critical to building envelope success.
