Robert A. Aird, Inc. performed EIFS installation as part of the construction of a confidential 150,000-square-foot data center in Ashburn, Virginia, one of the most active data center markets in the United States. The project consisted of applying StoTherm ci continuous insulation systems to select exterior façade areas, including rooftop screen walls and the main building entrance.

The structure featured two-story tilt-up concrete wall panels reaching heights of up to 74 feet. Aird’s scope focused on integrating EIFS assemblies with the concrete façade to provide architectural articulation, including liner textures and reveal patterns, while maintaining compatibility with the structural system.

Work was performed within the constraints typical of mission-critical facilities, including tight site logistics, coordination with multiple building enclosure trades, and adherence to strict performance and durability requirements. The EIFS system provided a lightweight, energy-efficient solution that enhanced thermal performance while contributing to the overall building envelope strategy.

This project highlights Aird’s experience installing EIFS systems in complex, high-performance environments, including data center and infrastructure-related construction throughout Northern Virginia and the greater Washington, DC region.
