Rockville City Passive House
2014
This Passive House, completed in 2014, was the first of its kind in Rockville. Designed by David Peabody in the neoclassical style of the twentieth century, this house won the Peerless Rockville award in two categories: Outstanding Green Design and Compatible Infill.
In this system, the SIPs panels are covered with a layer of 4” of rigid foam board that is then covered with an EIFS finish. This system is used extensively in passive houses in Europe because of its ability to break thermal bridges in the envelope and its long record of durability and thermal and moisture control.
Robert A. Aird, Inc. came together again with O'Neill Development and Peabody Architect Firm to create and design a sustainable and affordable energy-efficient home.
