1 N. Market St
2022
In 2022, Robert A. Aird, Inc. completed a comprehensive interior plaster restoration at 1 N. Market St in Frederick, MD, for the Frederick Arts Council. The historic structure required precise restoration to preserve original architectural details while addressing years of deterioration and prior repairs.
A focal point of the project was the mezzanine ceiling, where damaged plaster was carefully removed and rebuilt using traditional techniques. Our team matched original textures and finishes to ensure seamless integration with the existing architecture.
Additional work included restoration of ornamental columns, capitals, and decorative plaster elements. Missing or deteriorated sections were hand-sculpted to replicate original profiles, maintaining historical accuracy throughout.
Using appropriate materials and proven restoration methods, the project restored the interior’s architectural integrity while ensuring long-term durability. The completed work preserves a significant piece of Frederick’s historic fabric while supporting the building’s continued use as a community arts space.
