Corcoran School of the Arts & Design

2016 - Present

Since 2016, our team has been engaged in ongoing historic plaster restoration at the Corcoran School of the Arts & Design in Washington, D.C., a building that stands as a testament to Beaux-Arts architecture and cultural heritage. Originally constructed in 1897 and designed by Ernest Flagg, the Corcoran Gallery of Art has undergone various transformations, now serving as part of George Washington University's arts and design school.

Our restoration efforts have focused on preserving and revitalizing the building's intricate plasterwork, including ornate moldings, decorative ceilings, and detailed cornices. Utilizing traditional materials and techniques, we've addressed issues such as water damage, structural settling, and previous unsympathetic repairs. Our work ensures that the historical integrity of the plaster elements is maintained, allowing the Corcoran to continue inspiring students and visitors alike.

This ongoing project underscores our commitment to preserving the architectural and artistic legacy of one of Washington, D.C.'s most iconic institutions.
