Congressional Country Club
2006 to Present
For over 15 years, Robert A. Aird, Inc. has been a trusted partner in the ongoing stucco restoration and maintenance of Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland. This historic private club, established in 1898, features facilities that reflect early 20th-century architectural character and require consistent, high-level craftsmanship to preserve.
Our work has spanned multiple areas of the property, including restoration, repair, and custom fabrication of decorative stucco elements. These efforts have included in-house sculpting of medallions, column capitals, figurines, and architectural detailing, all carefully designed to match and maintain the club’s original aesthetic.
Rather than a single project, our involvement represents a long-term relationship, with the club repeatedly calling on Aird for additional work as new needs arise. Each phase requires precise matching of existing finishes, colors, and textures—often involving multiple mockups and adjustments to achieve a seamless blend with surrounding historic construction.
Throughout our ongoing work, we have addressed typical challenges associated with aging stucco systems, including cracking, weathering, and substrate movement, while maintaining consistency across both original structures and newer additions. By combining traditional plastering techniques with modern materials, we ensure both historical accuracy and long-term performance.
This sustained partnership reflects Congressional Country Club’s confidence in Aird’s ability to deliver detailed, preservation-focused stucco work across a high-profile property, reinforcing our reputation for craftsmanship, consistency, and reliability in long-term restoration environments.
