Private Residence

2019

Robert A. Aird, Inc. was selected to execute a fully customized exterior stucco system for a private residence in Great Falls, Virginia, designed to achieve a distinct, aged architectural appearance inspired by historic masonry construction.

The project centered around the creation of a one-of-a-kind façade incorporating hand-crafted faux brick spalling details throughout the exterior. These elements were carefully placed and sculpted to replicate the look of exposed, weathered brick beneath the stucco finish, requiring a high level of coordination, artistry, and attention to detail to achieve a natural and cohesive appearance.

Our scope included full façade preparation, installation of a high-performance air and moisture barrier system, and integration of continuous insulation and reinforced base coat assemblies to ensure long-term durability. All penetrations, transitions, and flashing details were carefully executed to provide a fully sealed and weather-resistant building envelope.

The finish system incorporated a reinforced base with high-impact mesh in key areas, followed by a specialty textured finish selected to complement the custom detailing. The faux spalling features were created in close collaboration with the client, with each placement and profile contributing to the overall architectural vision.

This project exemplifies Aird’s ability to go beyond standard stucco applications, delivering highly customized exterior systems that combine performance with artistic expression. The result is a truly unique façade that reflects both the client’s vision and our expertise in specialty finishes and detail-driven execution.
